Press release. September 2016. The Spanish social network has been selected as one of the most promising startups from the European Union and will participate in the second edition of Startup Europe Comes to Silicon Valley (SEC2SV).
beBee will be one of two Spanish technology companies to participate in SEC2SV, an event whose objective is to engage un icorn startups from the European Union with main US technology industry players to drive their international growth on the other side of the Atlantic.
The 18 most promising technology companies from the European Union have been invited to this event, which will take place in Silicon Valley from September 1220. A group of representatives from the European Union will accompany the startups including Elźbieta Bieńzkowska, European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs; ministers and public officials from the European Union, as well as the most prominent companies from the continent.
“These companies really epitomize European innovation the next TomTom, Spotify, o BlaBlaCar and we are convinced that their participation in SEC2SV will strengthen the twoway bridge between the European and the Bay Area ecosystems creating value and jobs for both continents” stated Mark Turpeinen, Director of EIT Digital in San Francisco and organizer of SEC2SV, together with Mind The Bridge.
Turpeinen added that they expect the startups participating in the second edition will match the “impressive results” from last year, such as Spain’s JobAndTalent who raised $42 million in a round of funding following the event, or the Italian Mosaicoon who raised $8 million.
beBee’s founders will represent the company along with the collaboration of their US CEO.
Juan Imaz, President and Javier Camara, cofounder and CEOSpain, will attend all presentations and interviews with investors on the agenda at SEC2SV, but will count on the help of Matt Sweetwood, the new US CEO, who will be traveling from beBee’s recently opened headquarters in New York City to Madrid to prepare for the event.

The countries from the European Union that will be represented at SEC2SV are: Spain (beBee and Kanteron Systems), Belgium (Awingu), Finland (Firstbeat), France (AB Tasty), Alemania (MeisterLabs GmbH), Iceland (Controllant), Italy (Shopfully Negentis), Luxembourg (Etix Everywhere), the Netherlands (Sciports), Romania (TME Studios), Slovenia (Vendotel), Sweden (Gleechi) and the United Kingdom ( Meniga, Metail, PCA Predict y Stream Technologies).
